So, I'm just gonna throw this out there...
When is it okay to ask someone out on a date, set the date, time, activity, etc., and then ask them to pay? This just happened to me, and I feel like I got suckered into taking someone out.

Oh my. I've been asked to drive a couple of times, and that was fine, but never asked to pay. I wonder if I would back out of the date!

Yikes! sucker punch to the stomach! Maybe the planned event/activity will fall through so you can do something different!
The man should always pay. At least you're not the girl and actual boy/girlfriend and not know when you (the girl) will have to pay. So it could be a lot worse. Good thing you have a good job. It just shows you're manly when you CAN and DO pay (even when it wasn't all your idea).
